Hi ;

I've been running into fps/stutter issues in some VPX tables , especially ones with lots of stuff going on

While most of non vpm pre 80s tables run (almost) full speed , as well as most of vpm tables , but newer vpm tables and original tables have slowdown and frame drops

I noticed the framerate issue is worst with original tables with lots of eye candy ; especially when the table file size is over 200 mb

I understand VPX is much more demanding than VP 8 and 9 , and being on a 8+ year old business computer doesn't help , but I wonder if there are any settings & tweaks to make them a bit more smooth and playable

Thanks and have a nice one

Thanks man. Away from home for a few days. Bank holiday weekend here in the UK. I'll post back in a couple of days. Thanks again

You can unlock the table to access the script and the image manager. There is an option to do.

Yes when I scaled down and re-imorted them it increased the table size from 433mb to 1.2gb. not to.sure why?

Export does not delete the files from the table if VPX is like FP.
So you need to delete the old ones and only import the new ones, most likely.

Found the lock/unlock option. Unfortunately, unlocking a table seems to crash VPX for me!
Not that I need this but it is good to know it's a feature from newer VPX releases and not a bug.

Yes I did that. Deleted the exported ones, rescaled and reimported in, but file size went huge. No idea why

Send the original pics you want converted as attachment here.
I am guessing they are WebP and not PNG files.
I would do this myself and export the pics, but the table hangs for about 15 minutes when trying to load it into editor.
Makes my browser also hang.
Once was enough for me.

Cheers man. I'll have a go myself first. If no joy I'll message here in a couple of days

Under table options there is a section lock/unlock table

I have copied over some of the larger image files to this folder

Many thanks

Ok try these...
I reduced pics to 4096 (Whichever had the highest number.)
File size went from 247 MB's to 22.9 MB's.
Don't forget to delete the original pics from the Image Manager.
Let me know how it works.

Witchcraft! Only word to describe what you have done. Kudos man.

Played it on VPX high PC settings (I don't have a great PC) and it runs superbly. Muchos respecto!

Plus table size is about 200mb, better than my 1.2gb lol

As a question, did you convert them to webp format prior to rescale? Or after

I imported each pic into GIMP one at a time.
First I scaled image, and then exported as WebP, and moved on to next pic. (The jpeg was only scaled down.)

Going to have a go with this for John Wick

Strange thing is....table plays great but only when the virtual DMD is off. As soon as switched on in my backbox the table suffers stutters and slowdowns (did update dmdext and flex DMD.No change)

I've loaded it up...as an example extract the image called plastics (28.8mb)

Opened in GIMPPortable

Selected image / scale image

Shows width 1844 and height 4096
With X and y resolution of 72.00

Interpolation Cubic

What do you scale this to?

I can see the option to export as a webp file so can then re-import it (after deleting the old file)

Just not sure what to do with the rescale (or resize) I can see your comment above saying you reduced size to 4096 for Last Action Hero, but this already shows height at 4096

Apologies if above not clear

If it already is 4096 try just importing the pic into GIMP, and then export as WebP.
Then compare file sizes.
Should be a huge difference by just converting it to Webp format.

as far back as VP9 when i had stutter i noticed it would start stuttering if i stopped the table then made changes in the VP desktop editor.
if i did make changes i will restart the table and continue on.
if it seemed to be ok i would keep going....sometimes it would start the stutter thing.
my solution was to close back to desktop then restart the PC and the table in the VP desktop editor.
i don't use any front ends...just the VP desktop editors.
looks like maybe making changes in the editor creates some kind of an error/corruption in the program then the stutter thing.
if the program starts to stutter try closing everything, clean the PC out and restart.
that's just the way it is with computer programs.
same goes for any changes you make in the PC itself for the changes to take effect and get any corrupted
errors out.
i know this is an old thread but i keep hearing about stutter and how i deal with it.....shut down and restart the PC.
there's a corrupted error in the program.

i found that restart was the only way to stop stutter.
i suspect something in the program got corrupted especially after making changes in the VP desktop editors.
does anyone have any other suggestions to stop stutter other than my suggestion of close everything then restart??
