Déjà vu

I once knew a lady named Brel, asked her if her name was 'short for her real name', expecting her to say Brelea or Brellicious or something like that, but no... she said she was named after Jacques Brel!

Less than a half-hour 'til my radio show, it broadcasts on "low power" FM so you gotta be close to hear it raw, but luckily streams worldwide on the webthing! No 'theme' this week other than things which caught my eye (and then my ear) at garage sales and record fests this Summer. A Ramones cover by L7 offa the album "Gabba Gabba Hey" which is all Ramones cover tunes, and have to say, i like that whole album Very Much.

Also has a comedy bit with Carl Reiner, whose son Rob has a movie out lately, which you may have heard of: Spinal Tap 2

Stream the show here:

OK, almost up, a diff radio show, one that's feeling ripe and heavy. It's Harvest Time (at least around here) so a show about getting your veggies and things down your throat.

Not a general call to listen for a beautiful hour of radio, this week's Culture Bubbles show is a more niche interest: progressive rock from the past 40 years, an un-odd coincidence they all start with the letter K, because Oktoberfest, right?!? But starting the show is a tribute to John Lodge, who passed away on Saturday past, bassist and did the iconic half of the vocals for The Moody Blues. Starts in a few minutes at

wayofm.org/listen-live/

And a full confession: I am a Moody Blues bigfan, perhaps not a superfan, but saw them about four times and have all the records. John Lodge passing away on 10/10 hit me hard, he's a guy i could always sing along to, pitch perfect, and the music is great in that intrigue/grandeur way. So the other radio show, up in about 10 minutes, 10pm-12mid EDT, is a couple hours of Moody Blues music. Love the Moodies, you'll adore the show. Indifferent to them, and you might have a fun exploration. Hate the Moody Blues, and well, then go watch some reality tv to make yourself feel better. Catch the stream at:

It's the spooky season, as evidenced by the franken-banner at Pinball Nirvana! To 'celebrate' am putting on a couple Halloween shows over the radio, but you can stream if you like, if you're not in this town, or if you get bad reception in your coffin.

First up, a 1-hour dabble in the dark arts, swamp style. It's a voodoo hootenanny at WAYO 104.3 FM in Rochester NY, which can be heard from 9pm to 10pm at:

wayofm.org/listen-live/

Afterwards, the big show is from 10 to the witching hour (midnight), on WRFZ 106.3 in Ro-cha-cha, where the 1st hour is all vampire tunes, and the 2nd hour is monsters, ghosts, Poe's favorite black bird, and Wednesday Addams gets her claws into a cello. But most of the second hour is all those iconic rock songs which only got stitched together once a year, every October throughout the 70s and 80s: Santana, Eagles, Crow, ELO, Cliff Richard, and more Santana! You can stream the show 10-12mid (Eastern time) at:

Oh, bt-way, the 9-10 show, about voodoo, here's the playlist you can't see 'til it gets posted on the web tomorrow (of course, the 10-12 show is never posted for later leisurely streaming, you gotta catch that one live or lose it for-evah)

01-01 Tex Ritter - Chicken, My Chicken
01-02 Johnny Perry - Cherokee 1026 - Take My Love To The Voo-Doo Man (1963)

I have never heard that Johnny Cash song "Arcangel"!
Great song selections!

Hope all is going well with your brother.
Let him know we all are thinking about him, and hope he is recovering well.

Now back to Santana!
Carry on.

Hi, that was "Dark Angel" by Benny Joy, and YES it sounds just like The Man In Black! Glad you're grooving, and yep, Jon is doing better, hoping it's like the band Chicago said: "feeling better every day"

Sounded just like him!
Even the content of the song fit Cash's style.

Great to hear Jon is doing better!

PS:
I cracked up when you talked like a pirate on your talk like a pirate show a few shows back.
Was laughing my ass off, and meant to post about it back then, but was busy!
Aaaaarrrrrrggghhhh!
