Hello friends
So my internet was down for a few days. And I got pretty bored so I played the free windows xp game space cadet pinball. I hadn't played in about 2 years, but I scored after about 4 games 15,265,500 points. I leveled up to the fourth rank or whatever. I'm pretty happy with myself, but i am sure there are people out there who could cream that score. anyway a surprisingly fun game and I know a lot of people out there have played too. Whats your high score.

There's a Lucy in my life

31 years ago, I bought my car (one of them, anyway) from a friend's sister who called it 'Lucy'....it's taken me over 350,000 miles, so anyone named Lucy's got it going on! As for Space Cadet:

Your score of 15M+ is impressive; my best games hover somewhere short of 12M. I have to play the windowed, 800x600 resolution which may be a bit squinty, though; anything larger or more resolved(?) tends to make the ball skip and jump. However, downloading a few games from Visual Pinball/PinMAME has convinced me that my video card needs to be updated, so I should hold any real complaints until that's taken care of.

Back to Space Cadet....have you played the original version (part of a three-table package called Full Tilt! Pinball)? There are a few differences; the second shot to the Hyperspace lane doubles the jackpot you collect by completing a mission, the rollovers are a bit easier to complete because going through a lit one doesn't turn it off, and (my favorite) MULTI-BALL play is available. I must have played twenty games the night I got it, and hit 37M+ (though I haven't touched 28M since); It's definitely worth the
(free download nowadays) price as an alternative. [Come to think of it, there are a few minor gaps in the free version I got....maybe I should have put out the few bucks. The Cadet, however, is not diminished. If you are already familiar with it and want to compare notes, I'm game.

Not a lot of interest in 3D Space Cadet? Too bad...it's still a good little exercise even if it is 15 years old. If nobody minds me blowing my own horn a little, things have improved; the average 'good' score is in the 13M-to-16M range and my high is currently 22,554,500. Improvement, though, has come very slowly---unlike with the Full Tilt! version I described previously.

Once I realized what the important shots really are, Full Tilt! Space Cadet became much more compliant; my current high is 147,419,000 and games around 100M are fairly common (if I have an hour and a half or more to give one game).

The key shots for either version are the same; up the Hyperspace lane as often as you can to go through the reward sequence and keep Extra Balls available (collected at the outlanes---avoid draining down the middle if you can), and up the Launch ramp, even if it appears to have no big value, to periodically refuel your ship so you don't 'run dry' one target shy of completing a mission, losing the payoff (points, bonus lights, and even an increase in rank)
you spent so much time pursuing.

Ah, heck---rather than edit, I'll just update so it looks like a new post. Further improvement on 3D Pinball (Windows) seems as likely as a walk on Mars; while I did finally bump that 22.5M to 30,079,750, that was back in late August and I don't see any sign that I can repeat (so many tables available in VP and FP, and so little time...) before the end of the universe.

FullTilt!, however, is a different story; thinking I'd play a 'quick' game before going to sleep (also last August--must have been a good month), I wound up with 316,888,000 and killed about four and a half hours doing it. Someone at another forum posted, "four hours of Space Cadet.....is INSANE!" (I'm tempted to agree) I've come close once since--just a hair short of 300M--but it's another case of 'so many tables, so little time'; who can set aside that kind of time for a hi-score attempt when there's so much else going on in the world? Let's see.....the latest comment about--or by--Sarah Palin.....
