Williams Solved World Cup (Williams, 1978) Scoring Problem When Game Starts

I have a 78 Williams World Cup Pinball Machine (sys 3). After turning the machine on, I start a new game and it starts scoring a random amount after it shoots the first ball out to the plunger area.

I wait till it stops then I press the flippers and it scores some more. This is even before I put the first ball in play. The score advances differenty every time I press the flipper buttons. The game plays fine but it keeps scoring extra points everytime I press the flippers.

Any Ideas??

Sounds like a switch adjustment problem somewhere around the flippers. Likely on the inlane or outlanes where the ball drains. If the leaf switches are out of adjustment and to close together when not triggered, the vibration from the flippers will make it score.

I had the same problem on my Hollywood Heat game. It would score randomly when you hit the flippers. I had a wire gate that was slightly moved (from me cleaning the machine). Took me about a week to realize it was a mechanical problem and not an electrical one. To fix it I just moved the gate back into position (moved it 1/4 inch) and it's worked perfect ever since.

That's exactly what happened! I was cleaning the machine and I bumped a few things around. Works great now.
