Bally Solved Xenon (Bally, 1980) external battery question

hello i have a xenon pinball that i have replaced the battery holder on the board with one that has 3 "AA" batteries and a wire to the board. everything works fine but i was wondering if its ok to use rechargeable batteries and take out the diode. i play about 1 or 2 times a week. would this work? would it be enough to keep them charged? or could it possibly overcharge them ?

Better to keep the diode and use regular alkaline batteries. It is good practice to replace the batteries once a year anyway. Regular batteries should last that long or longer.
