Bill blows you... THROUGH YOUR MIND!

Pretty Ballerina will indeed be on-deck in one of the upcoming compilations!

PS: All apologies for the lack of fidelity quality on some of these releases. I normally wouldn’t hang on to such a shaggy-sounding collection, but, as I mentioned, the fact that they’ve never had a proper CD release makes a better quality hard to find. However, it does look like there’s quite a few affordable used copies out there in pretty good shape. I hope the prices don’t go up between now and when I have enough space to put up my turntable again! Think I'll pass on the 30-year-old cassettes, though.

Those cassettes could be waterlogged from the gutter.
Really Wooozie, if you know what I mean.

"It's a Happening Thing" by The Peanut Butter Conspiracy is okay, but has lost a lot in the years since. I knew that song when it was new. And a very odd thing that my Brother's friend, "Donna the Drummer" gave me the album about ten years later. All but forgotten.
Hey. Do you know this one? I like it better. Barbara the lead singer was giving it away as a download about ten years ago. The numericals, they repeat themselves.

Have we done acid yet? I don’t think we’ve done acid yet. Now, don’t get nervous. I’m an old hand at driving the hand-painted rainbow school bus and I’ve got you covered; there’s a half-gallon of orange juice in the fridge and I’ve got a black light! All we need now is the tunes, and we’ve got Nuggets Acid Rock dropping in to see what condition our condition is in! Along with Kenny Rogers, there’s The Turtles, Arthur Lee and Love (probably my favorite “acid rockerâ€) and, the biggest surprise on the record (for me, at least), a Monkees song that isn’t bad! It’s a trippy little slice of Sgt. Pepper called “The Porpoise Songâ€. So let’s tune in, down load and drop out!

Yeah! The Porpoise Song and "Tapioca Tundra", and "Joanne" are good to me, and I love Pleasant Valley Sunday and admit a soft spot for Daydream Believer, probably due to some girl at the time. And Zor and Zam. Zilch. And "Last Train to Clarksville" a subversive context that may have flown over the network heads. Clarksville is/was a military base and first stop for The Drafted.

I think The Chocolate Watchband may have been America's best "Rolling Stones" group. They're one of the few garage-band artists who did enough songs to warrant their own Best Of release on Rhino Records and, if you spot it, grab it! It is a humdinger! You'll find the Watchband on Punk Vol 2, along with Captain Beefheart's special brew of phreak-blues and... hey! A song from Steppenwolf that's not Born to be Wild or Magic Carpet Ride! I sure hope your neighbors are ready to rock!

I recommend The Steppenwolf EQ settings for this one.
Got headphones?

This one Should Have the "Steppenwolf Eq". So with this one, you will want to set your EQ to Zero Flat. Which of the two sound better to you?
Got headphones?

First off, why the hell would you ever have your equalizer set at "flat"? I've got presets for Bill's Rock, Nitetime, even AM Radio for those old cuts that need a boosted midrange to sound right. So why would I set it to nothing? So, remember, kids, when you leave school and go home today, make sure to tell your parents that if they're not using their soundcard's equalizer, it means they're communists.
Secondly: nice try, arne, but when it comes to Flowers, I'm a Ride On, Baby kinda guy. Hit the harpsichord, Brian!

I EQ'd the second try because YouTube has too much 1 KHz. And because some folks don't have EQ, 'cept for Windows Media Player. Why is it that WMP won't load a YouTube page?
Is M$ trying to compete by insisting on MSN support instead of what the people use?

I'm going to say #2. I don't care for overly-bassy... guess that makes me pretty damn old! Actually, anyone with a RealTek soundcard has a graphic equalizer, it just may be a little hard to find it, but it's worth it, because it's a lot better than the equalizers that are available through media players. If you've got a RealTek card, open its program folder and there should be an equalizer just waiting for you to spend hours diddling with it. Or, if you're sane unlike me, you'll set it once and forget it.

Before we get to today’s Nuggets post, I’d like to offer this public service announcement. If you choose not to rock, then I salute you. Choosing not to rock is a valid lifestyle choice and can often be difficult to adhere to, like celibacy or being a Kardashian husband. Finally, there is a rock station for those who choose not to rock and it is Left Coast ‘70s from Soma FM. For the most part it’s deep album stuff that would be unfamiliar to most people, outside our very own Ayatollah of RocknRolla, sleepy. What’s amazing to me is how closely they stick to the station description of “mellow classic rockâ€. Man, is this stuff ever "mellow"! You’ll wanna check your computer for a pulse after about 30 minutes listening!
For those who do want to rock, here’s Nuggets Pop Volume III!

Not much of an Ayatollah I'm afraid. But this latest download is more to my experience than, say, the Northwest release. I'll tell you what. I'm looking at the WinRar list of files and I will try to guess the artists (artists are not displayed in the filelist)
There is no 01 Track in the zip. Is it missing?
02 dunno
03 dunno
04 dunno
05 Ah. Loving Spoonful. B-side was "Only Pretty (What a Pity)
06 The Association.
07 Probably The Mojo Men. Else the original by Buffalo Springfield
08 The American Breed
09 dunno
10 not sure. The Grass Roots(?) or Tremelos(?)
11 dunno
12 dunno
13 The Strawberry Alarm Clock
14 dunno. The title points to Lulu.

And I do know 03 by ear. Should there be a Track 01?

This is perhaps my favorite unsung Association track, from the debut album on the Valiant Records label, later Warner/Reprise and now probably Rhino or..."And Then...Along Comes The Association". Moody.

Hey, thanks for this thread, finally had a chance to listen to some of the tunes and am enjoying all of them, The Outsiders, Time Won't Let Me just played and it's wonderful, that's an excellent tune that must have gotten many people laid, I have a lot to explore, but I just saw Sookie Sookie by Steppenwolf.

Thanks, Coily! I may have to look into other posting alternatives, since the measly 78MB upload limit here keeps me from posting the whole albums.
About a week ago I increased these limits and forgot to inform you, Pinball Nirvana has had 5 mp3 players in it's history, we just lost 2 of them in January so keep on rockin' and let me know if something's in the way.

Forgot to mention that you guy's are awesome for posting these tunes, hope to contribute more when I get time, you guy's are more experienced than me, I got laid for the first time when this played on my older brothers stereo:

Alright, Jon, this is really weird. Last night I was listening to that Soma FM Left Coast Mellow Rock station and they played that very Bread song! I noticed it because I took a moment to reflect on the fact that it was probably the highest-quality version of that song I've ever heard... mostly because I've always heard it on transistor radios or AM car radios. There's also the fact that I haven't heard the Bread version in a long time. I would much rather make it with Dusty Springfield!

@arne: LOL! I do believe we have the same score from when I looked over the folder right before I posted it! I think we have the exact same "dunnos"! Unfortunately, before I started posting these sets, I went through and weeded out the duplicates. But not to worry... any missing songs will be caught up on before we finish!

Those "dunnos" are due to the radio playlists in L.A. and those "dunnos" didn't make the cut. I have in the past been very surprised by those kind of songs that are Big Shit in other places. And I never heard of them. And just like songs that were played on L.A. radio that I always thought went to No.1 but, like Beach Boys, were only major hits in Southern California. "All Summer Long" got airplay here but peaked at No. 23 nationwide.

The night that my Brother and me went to the Halloween Midnight showing of goremeister H. Gordon Lewis' "The Gruesome Twosome", my first gore flick screening, just before we left the car, KMET FM played Hendrix' "Dolly Dagger". And I have had many such coincidences all along. Nothing unusual there...

If there was a garbage truck involved, then it was Blood Feast. But that flick is funny.
Most of his older films play as though they came from an 8 year old, but sometimes that approach works for me. The punk 80's latched on to his "Two Thousand Maniacs". It has a nice bait-and-switch bit but an unsatisfying lack of a climax.

Well, cats and kitties, if this thread was a log-flume ride, you’d be right at the crest of that final hill before the last plunge begins and I get you all wet at the bottom. Man, I’ve really gotta work on my metaphors! Only one more release from the original series after this one, then I’m gonna hit you with the hits and wrap it up with something special for our neighbors south of the border. So, without further ado, Punk Vol. III and, I must say, I think I’m beginning to like the American “Shapes of Things to Come” even better than the limey Yardbirds song of the same name!

"Little Girl" is Definitely a favorite. But Where is "Psychotic Reaction" and "Pictures of Matchstick Men"? Or am I jumping the gun? I don't mean to.

Yes, you're jumping the gun! At least you are on the Count 5. Have you noticed a certain correlation to the songs that have been posted so far? No Limeys! If you're looking for Limey Nuggets (which sounds like the item on the Chinese buffet no one ever chooses), there is a box set floating around. I, after a quick search of my library, apparently never grabbed it. Probably because "Matchstick Men" was on it. I'd rather listen to the Monday-at-noon tornado siren test.

I don't mean to break the flow.
