It's not breakfast, it's not lunch...

How about a 3 egg omelette/1 tablespoon of milk, shake of salt 'n' pepper blended until light and frothy, pan fried, flipped then stuffed with half a sliced/diced onion, one tomato, grated cheese, folded then topped with home-made mild sweet chilli sauce on toasted rye bread...

Worked for me. :)

"It's not quite breakfast, it's not quite lunch, but
it comes with a slice of canteloupe at the end. You
don't get completely what you would at breakfast,
but you get a GOOD meal!"

yeah, i need to do more eggs. they're excellent, nutritionally.

for a while there i was making myself daily brunch burritos out of eggs, onions, garlic, spinach, tomatoes, peppers and maybe some hummous or feta cheese. hardly takes a moment to cook, and was lip-smacking filling.

Yes eggs are also an important source of iodine and that meal did only take about 15 minutes to prepare, cook and plate...

I do go the local free range eggs for a dollar more a dozen here. I can confirm not only is it better for the birds, they taste, crack and cook so much better.

there's an online nutrition group that i follow, and some of the guys have mentioned getting a real surge in physical well-being (specifically arthritis) from iodine-rich seaweed. i'm going to try that soon and some other stuff (combining D3 with K2) and see if that helps me out. i could certainly use it.

they were also talking about consistent medical research which found that most people are rather dramatically deficient in iodine, similar to vitamin D. i guess if you're still golfing and riding around, you probably don't have the latter deficiency.

Ah ha, selfie time, perhaps to much vitamin D..got the full t-shirt tan going on...:headscratch:

Is it just Steve's right arm and WHY?

@coil smoke,
did you see the pin posted here a couple years that actually pours you a beer if you hit a special? :D

...

i think steve still has a ways to go to challenge Matthias Schlitte:

Ah ha, at least I don't look like a fiddler crab..:D

Actually that's a mirror image I'm holding the camera with my right arm. ;)

So no not at all... I am right handed that is my slightly lesser left arm front and centre. :p

No really besides swinging the golf clubs, I also actually work for a wage, swinging shovels, rakes, a chainsaw, tree limbs, whatever actually needs to be done to maintain the grounds and surrounds of the sporting facilities at the Country Club.

As opposed to the those useless overpaid office jockeys shuffling meaningless bits of paper or electronic correspondence between their air-conditioned offices.

There's a lot of ways to screw up for real while doing real work. Ya got to love people that actually get things done! Farmers are the most respected people here in the states. 40 years back police were at the top of that list but the law had respect for the people in those days. I think school teachers come in at number two on the list.

Beer for hitting a Special ? That'L keep em coming back for more. If Bally had invented it they'd still be in business....JACKPOT !

LOL... this here thread started out so angry and put-upon, then it somehow got hilarious.

EDIT: no, wait... i meant the shockman thread. somehow i was combining the two things in my little cabbage head.

KitH... that was some good shit when they were on top of their game.

Dinner was fine tonight, reheated spaghetti, with lashings of freshly grated cheese..it's always better after a rest in the fridge.

Yes all cooked the other day, with prime minced beef, garlic, rosemary leaves from the garden chopped 'n' diced, chilli, basil, Australian tinned tomatoes, a few more herbs 'n' spices, spaghetti boiled in water with a dash of oil, some salt, until al dente..all thoroughly mixed together...
:cheese:

that's true of most meals IME. i guess the various ingredients have more time to combine that way. or maybe the starch changes consistency, allowing one to taste more of the sugar content.

anyway, today i accidentally added too much water to some brown rice, but managed to save it. i spiced it up with some jamaican jerk sauce, took the lid off, and added some dried onion bits and veggies. the onion and the escaping steam quickly balanced the excess water out, and it turned in to sort of delicious stew. i'm going to be making this mistake more often, i think!

coincidentally, i was just reading about how arsenic is both an essential trace element of the diet and a deadly poison at the same time. a good tip for getting excess arsenic out of rice is apparently to let it soak for a while, then rinse before cooking.

Yes got to admit I've never mastered the absorption method for cooking rice.

I always just go the old style, longer, slower method of boiling it in more then enough water, then strain and rinse.

you probably lose some nutrients that way, but also get rid of a lot of the arsenic. pretty good trade off, i should think.

...

well, i'm subscribed to a "GIF recipes" group, and usually they look delicious but are unfortunately swimming in stuff like cheese and heavy cream. today i saw one that looks great and something i could easily make:

Shakshuka (North African-Style Poached Eggs in Spicy Tomato Sauce):
http://imgur.com/sV9iP0r

hot damn!

That Shakshuka does look like a great cook up, not sure why the canned whole peeled tomatoes when you just mash them up? I always just go the diced variety here quality Australian grown mind.

Actually Ike I just came across a site which has some recipes that might be 'right' for you...

http://naturalnews.com/

Though I certainly wasn't expecting to find them on this website which is famous for peddling conspiracy theories and has been de-listed by Google as part of its move to clamp down on fake news.

http://www.fudzilla.com/news/42953-google-delists-right-wing-conspiracy-site

Not sure what craziness google is up to here, though I'd say they just increased that sites traffic at least ten fold.

hmm... i'd call that one an activist-anarchist / conspiracy theory website before i'd call it a right-wing one, as fudzilla did. i'm not sure how they connected those particular dots.

in any case, i can kind of grok where the site runner is coming from. i imagine his concerns are justified on a number of things, but long ago the site probably became less about accurate, well-vetted information and more about simply being a warehouse for as many related stories as possible. the larger his readership became, the more reasons he had to spend more time on content and less time on quality. or something like that.
