Can you top this? (Yogi's game)

457 is my record on 99 bricks so far. Nice find. Simple, yet so maddening. :-)

Can't remember my record for 99 bricks when we played it on vpforums, and google only has page 2 of that thread in it's cach.

Nic reckons it was 600+ (see his earlier post). I doubt I'd ever beat that, but it's fun to try once in a while.

My score for the day: 459

I just scored 269 on my very first game of 99 bricks ever. Increasable!

Is this meant as a new mini tournament game or do we actually just play different games that come to mind or attention? No problem. I just ask, because actually it seems to run a little unsortet.

If this thread shall be deemed to be as continuation of the old thread at VPF, it needs some parameter as timing and which game to play at all and someone (the one who introduces the next game?) who posts the current and final standings.

What do you think?

Agreed, as this is a bit haphazard. I have no idea what game we're supposed to be playing. :s

sorry for the confusion, guys, and btw congrats on the great initial scores on 99 bricks!

if you find it necessary to have time limits then how about we say that bowling and 99 bricks will run until tuesday?

In case there won't be further participants, I think we can keep it by the actual handling.

That works for me. Nic, will you call the next game?

alrighty, then.
congrats to pete (hierophant) for the top score in bowling- 212.
congrats to marty for the original top score in 99 bricks, 600+.
congrats to pete among the new players of 99 bricks with 459.

here is a new game, "bubble spinner".
it is possibly the best varient i've ever played of "bust a move", adding some dynamic new elements that test a variety of skills:

Oh cool! You must be a mind reader, Nic, because I was thinking of the Puzzle Bobble (Bust-a-Move) game that I found on the Classic Arcade flashgame site. Freaky. *Twilight Zone music*:trippy:

It'll be interesting to check out Bubble Spinner later. I hope it still has those funny little baby dragons.:)

I only scored 187 on bubble spinner (1st game ever).

very nice. :)

I was struggling to get more than 50 points until I realized you can bounce shots off the walls. D'oh!
:homer:

Score: 743

How the #$%^ do you score that high on that game? Played dozens of times and can only get near 200...

here are some of the guidelines i use... maybe they will help:

- you are under no time pressure in this game, so take your time and try to make every shot count.
the lower-left ball count shows how many shots (without matches) before random balls are added.

- as in pool, work on visualising your bank shots.
you can even hit where you want on the other side (bottom) of the collection with a little practice.

- use the mouse pointer whenever possible to help line up your shots and banks.
in other words, don't bother visualising a shot when you can place the pointer where needed instead.

- plan your shots ahead based on the next ball coming.
there are are usually multiple ways you can hit your match shot in order to spin the collection in the direction you need.

I never made the connection between that counter and shots without matches... Helps a lot to know when those random balls are coming...

Made it to the mid 700's a couple times, think that's about my limit.

Me either, I'll have to watch for that next time.

Cool, but a little annoying with the rubbery blocks.

Just got through #1, will try #2 tonight.

Update: Wow, some of those in #2 take some serious thought, some you have to drop a piece from the top and quickly place a piece under it... Got through all of them, the bonus round is impossible for some of them, they give you the pieces in random order!

Beautiful horses. Mine was feeling good on Sunday, ran away with me a little twice, was able to turn him away from the ice patches so we didn't wipe out.... Lousy weather, more snow and ice, everything is slippery now...

Later,
Marty
