Enders Game..

Sorry, sleepy. The Animal of Anaheim chewed up and spit out the dudes from Dublin. Somewhere, Uncle Walt's head is smiling in its cryogenics chamber.

So you don't agree with my childhood either. I know I was there.
That's why I loved my graduation.
i agree with your perception of the events, but i don't want to be an ass towards someone who has never meant me any harm.

re: harry,
it's difficult to remember his last really decent movie. and kind of depressing how major talents such as himself and steve martin keep mailing in lousy movies for fat paychecks against all real need.

we see many of their contemporaries regularly challenge themselves via theatre in order to grow. yet these suckers seem to directly aim for de-evolution. maybe their ulterior goal is to win the starring role in the next blob remake.

Stinking Aussies! They win our Masters Tournament, they take home our Best Actress Oscars!

Welp, four hours of my life I'll never get back once again! Thank goodness I love schadenfreude. That look on poor Ellen's face around the third hour when she realized this thing had gone down the toilet was Hollywood priceless!

Yeah. Four hours, a majority of the closing theme songs, a helicopter drone camera, and a forgotten comment about accidents in space, hence the crack about "WB Wise Guys", but I never suggested it as a movie project.

And my cat is still missing.
What can I do?

That reminds me. Got an e-mail the other day from Be In a Movie. They are looking for crowds for Gratis. It's pretty much like tv tickets for an audience kind of a scene, except the show may last close to 9 hrs.

Would you do it for free for 9 hrs.?

I'd Try That...

in fact, the latter one wants me to come down to help her pick out some guinea pigs, since i convinced her to get some. (me being peruvian and all!)
:D

For supper?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Schadenfreude (/ˈʃɑːdənfrɔɪdə/; <small>German:</small> [ˈʃaːdənˌfʁɔʏdə]<small class="nowrap"> ( listen)</small>) is pleasure derived from the misfortunes of others.[1] This word is a loanword from German. The literal English translation is 'Harm-Joy'. It is the feeling of joy or pleasure when one sees another fail or suffer misfortune. It is also borrowed by some other languages.

I'm not sure. I keep passing on these and I don't know if it's only a mini-bag of Doritos for all that matters. There was a porn shoot up the street, totally unrelated to this Mainstream outfit, and they had a bunch of Jack-In-The-Box leftovers, letting passerbys take the leavings.

There was a Disney call from them for a Steve Carell shoot that I almost went to, until I got sick and remembered everything that the locals have been pounding me to not do, but it is based on the children's book, "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day", and then, I started getting very bad vibes given the treatment around here, like maaybe it might be a stunt. It wouldn't be the first time.

That day they wanted older folks to play an audience of school parents at a recital, but the location was also a bitch to get to from here.

Otherwise, why not?? They haven't paid for anything yet! I remember working the video transfer shop and was sent to Disney to pick up a proof. I walked in one of the bungalows and there was this then-unknown overweight fruity dude at an easel, very fruity.
Extremely fruity. This was in 1978, and I'm sure he was putting me on. By 1985 I recognized him as Robert Zemeckis. Don't know what he was doing at Disney though.

Damn, I hate that song that won. I really liked The Moon Song with Scarlett Johansson. I feel the same way about it as I did the Grammy year "Fast Car" lost to "Don't Worry, Be Happy". Ugh!

Hey! Bang bang! It's 3:50 A.M.
So I open the front door and Mamma cat came back.

But she left last Tuesday and stayed out until this morning? That's like 5 1/2 days out there somewhere in these 103 unit apartments or beyond, and she was an abandoned pet when I took her in. Her former caretakers moved and dumped her and nobody was feeding her, and then we had over three days of heavy rain with flash flood warnings this last weekend. And now she's back. She's warm, walking with a swagger like Mae West, but she is not dirty. She is not the least bit hungry. And in 5 1/2 weeks (EDIT: Days) I could not find her anywhere, even as the regular alley cats are showing up at my door the whole time because there is no food out there for them. None but the food that I put out for them.

What do you suppose the story is?

Though nobody around here cops to working in Hollywood, there were quite a few cars returning to the apartments tonight about 30 minutes after the ceremonies ended. Driving from here to The Dolby Theater takes about a half an hour, and the cops close the boulevard to public traffic, so gridlock is not an issue.

I hope they weren't playing mind games by holding the cat.

Well I just watched

Best Short Film, Animated

WINNER..

Mr Hublot (2013): Laurent Witz, Alexandre Espigares

Interesting, somewhat cyber punk, worth a watch, rather well done animation, the story was a bit too simple, I'd give it about 7 out of 10.

Cat Unit #7

What is really going on in a cat's opaque mind? They clearly have us fooled. I think we would not like our feline friends so much if we actually knew. They seem to know us a whole lot better(Psychic?). My mother's last cat decided it would rather live in a hollow log. After years of pampering it left the house, lived in that fallen tree, refused food, refused to come any where near the house...In freaking, freezing February yet ! Sleepy, good to hear your cat is back. I have known dozens of cats. I feel like I understand them about as well as possible. I am damned attached to our 13 year old. He is the seventh cat I consider family. We got lucky with this one. He is more affectionate, faithful, playful, protective and entertaining than we can believe. This reminds me of " Pinball Nirvana Forums - View Profile: tiltjlp@@AMEPARAM@@View Profile: tiltjlp</title>@@AMEPARAM@@tiltjlp " topic about the souls of cats. http://www.pinballnirvana.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10845&highlight=souls+cats

Sleepy, I think that your cat has put the cuckold's horns on you. I remember when my (then) wife and I took in a stray orange tabby who lived with us a couple of months. Weren't we surprised to find out our neighbors also took her in at the same time and thought she was their cat. Or, your other guess could be right. Goldie Hawn kidnapped your cat and dropped it off on the way home from the Oscars, just to "sock it to you". :)

BTW: Cool station!

just be careful letting your cat and your amazon hang around the food bowl together.

Hey, there's no food in that bowl. That's why the cat took a paw to Polly.
Else, that's cat food made with chicken. I feed the strays at the door and
the pigeons being fed by the corner donut shop are always hanging around
picking off the cat food (fish and chicken).

well, there's a little bit of food, and IME they love to nibble on things... such as the poor cat's ear. it's bad enough when an african-grey is playfully biting my own ear, but it's super-powerful beak can easily shred a cat's thin ear.

many (most?) parrots are also omnivorous. example: the african grey at the philly zoo famously loved buffalo wings as its favorite treat. (don't ask me how that got started)

EDIT: pretty soon now, stevoz should be jumping in to point out that cats are a huge invasive pest problem in oz. a book i have stashed somewhere noted that at the time, they were trapped and poisoned by the hundreds. strychnine was the cocktail of choice IIRC.

Like the dogs in Sochi? Our societies have not been exactly pet-friendly.

I'm not sure, but I'm thinking the cat won't touch the bird seed.
Polly's probably got his/her own stash and the cat knows it.

The next Jackass movie probably should be about pets.

in sochi it was just a matter of passing convenience. as for oz, they're afflicted by invasives, such as rats, dingos and other non-marsupials. more a matter of survival for them.

one of the worst problems is the rats and cats taking a short-ish swim to nearby islands and decimating native fauna. example: there is one kind of large parrot that is flightless, called the kakapo, or owl parrot. it has no experience with placental predators, and is basically just a sitting meal for whoever comes by. they are from NZ and a couple small nearby islands, and there are only about 100+ left. probably doomed in the wild, not unlike orangutans and many other animals. :/

kakapo-on-branch.jpg

Do they use sprinkler systems or other defenses at these preserves?
I'm wondering if the feral cats hate water like their domestic counterparts?

the surest way is apparently to oversee them on a small island while scrupulously keeping the place invader-free. but according to WP, only a single kakapo egg managed to hatch in the past three years. they are one of those animals that does not tend to breed in accord with man's agenda.

That's the way to be, else some guy will be telling it what to do.

yes... like a much milder form of modern man's MO-- "i'd rather go extinct (and bring everything else down with me) than change."

good thing i'm just a passing visitor to this ridiculous planet. :)
