Now, I'm going to confess.
I don't eat turkey. Nope. Not at all. My family never bought poultry and never served it, instead concentrating on beef in general and a sweet ham for the holidays.
In fact, in my entire lifetime, I can count on my fingers how many times I have
deliberately eaten turkey.
The first time was a Thanksgiving dinner given by a friend of my family at the age of 5, the Graham Bells. The turkey tasted like crayons.

The second time was a turkey and mayo sandwich which I ate during my very first jet airplane flight from Los Angeles to Pittsburgh eight miles high in 1968. It wasn't bad, but the flight was terrible because I could not sleep for 36 hours until after we landed in Pittsburgh and it gave me my first facefull of zits.
I was so excited.

The remaining number of times that I have consumed turkey really shouldn't count at all as these were "Subway Sandwich Faux Red Meat Sandwich Slices On the Cheap". You know, like sandwiches "Made With Turkey Bologna", "Made With Turkey Ham", and "Artfully Reprocessed Not To Taste Like Turkey".

In fact, throughout the 1970's I was A Deliberate Vegetarian, having spent some time as a young lad on a dairy and meat farm owned by my alleged step grandfather by a previous marriage. I was Lacto Oval and spent the time living on Morningstar Farms (veggie-egg) Ham Slices, and this behavior continued up until my well-to-do step grandfather's family, now in control of Hollywood, had the Morningstar Farms (veggie-egg) Ham Slices discontinued as a product while forcing me as their dependent to eat meat and putting me on a dietary regimen of beating up on beef buritos to outlet my defensive aggressions which I began to harbor against my step grandfather's family.

This part of my story was told in the 1974 Brian DePalma motion picture, "Phantom of the Paradise", the making of which was funded by my step grandfather's family with music by Paul Williams.
In it, I am depicted as the guy wearing braces.

So, do you eat turkey for real on Thanksgiving?

This turkey dinner is really good here. We have a Thanksgiving dinner for the family every year. :pint:

Have a Happy Thanksgiving Day!

Yes I do. Next to bacon, tirkey is my favorite meat. I roast 1 or 2 turkey breasts each month, that's how much I like it.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO MY PINBALL BUDDY TILTJLP AND JPH!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving to: Destruk, SHIVA, Warrior, Kinsey, Mr. Fixx, Plumb and Des Angel. I remember all of you from VP's past and wish you nothing but the best. Hope you're all doing well! All you folks were helpful when I needed you with my works in VP :)

Happy Thanksgiving Itchigo! :)

Hope you all have a wonderful day. Friday I get to have my Thanksgiving at a friends house :) I get to make the turkey and yams :) I get to take pics of my friend and his family and they can get a few of me for my family. I haven't had a photo done of me for over 15 years. YIKES!

John, even my sister sent me pictures of my nephew (now 6) and my niece (now 14!!!). I never met my nephew but the last time I saw my niece she was only 5 years old!!! She looks great. My sister even sent me a pic of herself! I'm so glad everything is fine with them :) I already got the perfect Thanksgiving; talking to my sister via telephone and her sending me new photos of the kids :) Can't ask for more than that.

Peace John; you've kept it for me and glad I called you via telephone last night! It sure was nice to hear your voice again. :) Nice talking to you in the chatroom too! LOVE LATE NIGHTS. 12 am seems a good time to chat eh?

Yeah, I enjoyed our phone chat Will, at least once I got you calmed down. But you wouldn't be you if you didn't get upset now and again. The chat room is nice too, except for that stupid computer bot JPH has in the lounge. That's why I always use a private room. As long as my hands aren;t throbbing too much, we can use a chat room anytime you'd like. I hope everyone took time to reflect how good our lives in the US are, especially when compared to most other countries. Sure, it's far from perfect, but could be a whole lot worse.

:appl:

Happy Thanksgiving everybody!

I just cooked a ten pounder yesterday, for me and my gal, with cranberry sauce (the whole berry kind not that jellied crap!) with real mashed potatoes, and my beer bread, and fresh green beans ( I steam them with a steamer pot; not boiled)and a real gravy made with flour and the pan drippings and a little white wine!. she made us a homemade pineapple bread pudding for dessert. so yeah I eat Turkey on Thanksgiving especially since I cook it! I also have a wicked ham recipe which I must get on to the recipe area at vpf.org before Christmas! and two rice pudding recipes one is mine the others' is my girlfriends mom's! But I digress...
I also like to cook usually turkey thighs at least once per month, as they are cheaper here than ground beef or even chicken at times! and they are HUGE!

John;

I am sorry about that. Of course you know where I come from about many topics so I did go off the deep end. I apologize pal. I'm just glad I called you; three times thanks to my cell phone crapping out :p

Trust me, I am thankful for my family, friends, my kitty, my job and I always have a few bucks left over for the week. Made my truck payment today so I've been staying up to date on it and I was shocked to learn I don't owe much more. Glad I got my truck :)

I am happy with my live in buddy (who works where I work) and we get along perfectly - we never have issues and if we do, we talk about them right then and there. This guy was there for me when I had no car and he took me to and from work everyday for 6 months. I am thankful, trust me.

Happy Thanksgiving folks. I am thankful and hope you all are too. :)

You'll have to excuse me; I have a 12 pound turkey in the oven so I have to keep an eye on it and have to start doing the sweet potatoes ;) This is the FIRST time I am cooking a turkey so I HOPE it comes out nice.

While I disagree with the way our government is being handled at present, I love living in the USA and would not trade being here with ANY other country! Also being born on July 4th, I have a special connection to America! I also was in our Air Force for a 2 yr. tour in the late 80's (following my Dad's military profession of being a jet plane mechanic. Actually he worked on mostly B-29's, but dabbled with the early jets too!) so i am very patriotic. I was also in NYC for both terrorist attacks, both in '93 and '01 and volunteered me and my straight truck's services both times. So as for patriotism, yeah I think I have some! anyway, have a happy turkey day and weekend peeps!

We don't celibrate Thanksgiving day in the UK so my answer was No. But I eat it almost all year around. I love turkey and can eat it for days after Christmas. Big bird, 25-30lbs feeds the family well :)

Elton detects a trick question, and it still works out.
My family does the same with ham every year, for several days,
so I make a point of stashing away the dinner rolls to go with it!
