The FIRST tilt mechanism was created and made in 1931.
Actually, Prosperity was the FIRST pin machine company to make the tilt mechanism. I once owned a Pros-Per-iti Special that had a up and down moving tilt mechanism. This was a HUGE surprise to say the least. The ball would sit in an "+" and rolled back and forth and if it stayed too long OUT OF the center "box" it would pop up the metal "TILT" sign at the top inner edge of the machine. This tilt mechanism was created in 1931. If a player put another coin into the machine it would reset allowing the ball in the wooden box to drop down and reset the box. It's the earliest form of tilt mechanism I know of that seems to exist - but I KNOW it existed and even watched it work inside of the machine I owned. I sold the machine to a museum knowing they would treat it with care.
I've also owned a Peo Manufacturing "Midget Hi-Ball" and I released the game for VPX as well. The play field image is the actual image or photograph of MY original machine. I sold this too to the museum. They have them both. I've also owned a Peo Little Whirlwind machine.
As for a play tester, I've gone through two over the years. The first one was a pain, but tiltjlp used to be my playtester afterwards and he was a great guy. I may take you up on your offer sometime in the future, who knows.
Boop-A-Doop is coming along NICELY. Got the holes done. Now to the pinheads. Won't be too long I hope. The table is a blast to play.
