oh, is this thread still alive?!
well, well...
wow I didn't know you stood that far away from it!
I'd be lucky just to hit the box at that distance!
I thought it was like a penny arcade thing where you stood in front of it
and lightly tossed the coins onto it
that's a heck of a toss!
you know, you can draw the pitching line wherever you want for a casual game. main object is just to have fun with friends and family, not to require expert throwing!
the most interesting thing about the tosses is that, if you want to score the all-impressive sapo shot (getting it in the frog's mouth), you need to spin the coins as you toss them. like a frisbee but not quite so intensely. then when the fichas are spinning, sailing through the air, they'll tend to stay nice and horizontal, which is what they must be to score the frog.
this is what makes the game deeper and more technique-oriented than most pitch and toss games.
there's nothing like that glorious loud CLANK as the heavy brass ficha hits the brass frog. everyone tends to instantly look over to see if you hit the vaunted homerun shot. you can also put a small ceramic saucer at the bottom of the frog chute / drawer, and it will make that extra CLINK when the ficha successfully drops through. most shots are tragic near-misses, of course. ah, and those spinners also score a lot of points, by the way.
dang, all this talking about sapo... i feel like going out in the snow and playing right now, some how some way!
EDIT: faralos, what other tables or games have you owned or worked on in the past? i read all about your recent PB table, but maybe you can educate me on some other type of game i hadn't heard about. tit for tat. :)
