I wonder if presidents from all the other countries who have tariffs on the USA, did it for same reason?
To take control of all businesses? lol
Yet nobody complains when other countries use tariffs.
Or is it only because Trump is doing it, that it is somehow the worst thing in the world, and secretly he wants to take over all businesses?
Reciprocal means just that.
If your country has a tariff on the USA, then USA will tariff same amount your country charged USA.
Remove your tariff, and USA will remove tariff also.
Seems like a great way to even the playing field.
Get back to FAIR trade.

Trumps tariffs in his first term seemed to work very well. (Worked so well that even idiot Biden left them in place.)

Xenonph, it is more complicated than just tariffs.
Governments around the world use different economic measures for different reasons.

As an example, I will use dairy. Canada does have a tariff on dairy, but it only applies if America sends an excessive amount of dairy to Canada.
'Free trade" I hear you say.
But what if American dairy farmers have an advantage that Canadian farmers do not have?
American dairy farmers are subsidized up the wazoo by the American government. They produce such an excess of dairy that the American government stores cheese in caves. Canada restricting and taxing cheese is their way of leveling the playing field.
Same with corn. Framers are paid by the government to grow corn. So much corn is grown you then have to use energy to turn that corn into fuel.

There is a tariff on Australian meat because Australia does not buy American meat. you need to ask "why does Australia not buy American meat?". Because it is full of hormones and preservatives. IE it is poor quality. In America your cows are raised on concrete lots, In Australia our cows are grown on farms with grass under their hooves.

We do not drive American cars either. In many countries the cost of fuel is double what is paid in the USA. We cannot afford to run a pickup truck or a big SUV

I think Australia quit buying beef because of Mad Cow disease in the early 2000's.
I wouldn't want Mad Cow beef either!

In todays news, There is no ban on American beef being imported to Australia. Mad Cow ban was lifted in 2019.
The only restriction is trackability. Cows are tagged on the farm, this number stays with the cow from the farm, to the slaughter house, to the butcher. this is so if there is a problem, the source of the problem can be traced. This was in place before Mad Cow was a thing.

So, maybe trump lies, or does not know what he is talking about, or did not look into a subject before making a move

An interesting observation of the protests on Saturday though America, no cops can be seen in the videos. Not in riot gear, not guiding traffic. and the protesters were mainly peaceful
