Hey people, I give up.

I really want to say a few words. But there is too much to read ( and understand ) before. Here and on the other forums. That is more than I can handle now. What do you all do the whole day ?

Yogi, some people hate each other and will always hate each other. They will now say "hate" is a strong word to use, but take my word for it, some of these people hate each other.

I can't imagine trying to use a translator to read these forums :)

You could be right about the hate thing Bob. There are a few folks I really dislike, but nobody I hate, especially not anyone I know only from the Internet. I wil say that there are a fes people whi I'd like to get to know in real life, because I think we'd hit it off, but not that many.

And Yogi, I apprciate the problems you have understanding everything. You should still feel more than welcome to poat any remarks you want to here. I hate to admit it, but you usually make more sense that the reat of us combined.

I just wanted to say that I wasn't speaking of just the people that have posted in this thread, Yogi was referring to the other forums (VPF) and somedays you can sense the hatred behind some posts. This isn't anything new, but no one wants to admit they hate an internet persona, because that would be stupid.

Yeah, I was thinking in more general terms too Bob. Although I don't think either Leon or the Dude will ever see eye-to-eye. If they ever did agree on something, they'd probably both be speechless, and that would sure take a lot of the amusment out of this thread and VP in general.

I don't even mind Shadow, I just got tired of her repeating her self so much. She's definately an interesting study, and seem sto have a short focus span. Some of her posts in our private forum were great, but when she'd just get things rolling, she seemed to lost interest. Hope she finds her funny persona and stops back here again, but her angry side gets a bit heavy for me. Now don't anyone start suggesting group hugs.

Ah, come on JPH, as much as I may agree or disagree, I would really hate to see this site become another VPF with that comment. Sorry, but I like this board the way it is, it's special, and the arguements are intelligent at least.
About the chat, yeah, a lot of people don't use it, for what ever reason. Yet, other sites have chats, and no one uses them either. My new software has a very good new chat system for it, but I doubt I will install it, because no one will use it, in fact, I did have one of the best chat systems before, and that's exactly what happened.
I guess the people who want to chat are just that particular group itself.

Welcome back Jon. And no, I haven't been brainwashed, so don't start worrying. I agree and have agreed for quite a while that Gottlieb is the major problem at vpf. And I've never once said that Kinsey is an angel, but she also isn't the complete monster some folks proclaim. Few of us are as good or as bad as we often seem, although there are some exceptions.

I also agree completely about Gottlieb's chat room, I'll never go there again because I don't care to listen to there Holier Than Thou garbage. But I think you're a bit out of line about some of the staff at vpf, at least when they begin there. I really think Loaf had the best of intentions, and what's so wrong with a forum that doesn't encourage or condone profanity? If fact I'd prefer a bit less of it from you sometimes, but I realize you get steamed up and let fly.

It's not that big a deal with me, I know all the profanity that's ever been uttered, and could spew it endlessly if I wanted to, but I'd rather not. As for vpf, I still go there and read some of the stuff, but I've really gotten tired of all the non-pinball junk. But if possible, I'd hope you tone it down a bit, because like shiva said, I think what sets us apart is that we've become a meetig place where folks who don't see eye-to-eye can come a discuss, debate, and argue, and still at least remain civil.

I'm sorry you feel that way Jon. I have to agree that there is a lot more bull than pinball going on right now. That's why I've quit reading the junk at vpf, if it isn't pinball I ignore it. And I decided to use my energies to make even more pinball table. I apprecite you keeping the site going, and I'll help when I can. Hopefully you'll feel like popping in once in a while, and maybe we can get a bit more focused on talking about and playing Pinball.

No kidding. I do know how fustrating it can get, more than just about anyone I suspect, but I'm still here, I'm still going, and I still use my energy for a positive impact to those that care, or need to ask for help or advice.

Now come on shiva, i haven't messed anything up in months, well, not for a few weeks anyway. But I can understand Jon's frustration with the whole scene. If I hadn't left for health reasons in 2003, I'm not so sure I'd still be around.

But I am trying to ignore most of the garbage and stay focused on pinball. I'm better at making tables than I'll ever be at politics. So Jon, just remember we're here to talk pinball if you ever feel in the mood again.

This is a sad day, I've always liked Jon, JPH, though you always did wear your heart on your sleeve and let your heart rule. These are good qualities, though perhaps not the best for pinball politics or the internet, just the way it is.

Ah, the Loafer and family friendly, perhaps parent friendly would be more correct. I did actually nominate him for the position myself and I know he did more good to correct things then most VP admins. Do I agree with that policy, no, though I have never needed to break it either, as I will always address the post and not the poster, with my head and not my heart. With a smile and a laugh at those many that resort to name calling and pushing for some sort of imaginary glory or power, for we are the power, all of us, at the exclusion of none.

I aint going anywhere, I'll be here, making sure any and all can continue to experience visual pinball.

You can't fix this, it would require the actions of one person, who never has done so before, to admit his responsibilty, which he never has done before either, to set in motion the chance to heal this.

Shiva, you have been complaining about everything under the sun in the last 3 years. Everything is always wrong and you're one of the only few people who ever does anything for the community. You have health problems, broken marriages, etc.

Guess what: So do the rest of us. I have a broken marriage too - and had to end my sports career because my knees and back almost cracked once when I slipped during a squat set with over 500 lbs on my back. That was it, the whole career ruined because just one uncontrolled set. I had to crawl to the bathroom for two weeks because of back pain, and ate 15 painkillers every day. My back will never get back to 100% and it probably needs an operation soon. Not to mention it also ruined my finances. But such is life, lots of people face much bigger issues and still remain positive about life.

But do you see me whining about my personal life? Do you think you're the only one here who has personal problems and still does something for the community? Most people have faced some shit during their life. Lander has cancer and he made one post about it.

I don't understand your hatred towards PD. If you disagree with the guy: Fine, but don't post such b/s about him twisting your words around. And he didn't use the issue of Loafer's daughter wrong way, and yet you make it look like it was somehow twisted and sick.

I'm not disrespecting you. I actually LIKE you, but sometimes your whining is just depressing, I don't understand where you get your negative energy from. If maintaining your site takes too many sacrifices why don't you give it up? If VPF gets destroyed (as you predict) we will find another place. I wouldn't worry too much about that.

Like I've said many times this community is a family and people shout at eachother sometimes, especially Leo. So stop over-dramatizing everything, nothing really bad has happened. I think you guys are just BORED.

And I'm 100% sure we'd all get along just fine if we met eachother in real life. I'm not sure about Leo and PD though.

Hey there kristian. Good points you make about everyone facing rough times, not that I agree with you completely about shiva. I do think we all tend to focus too much on the political garbage in the community. And unlike some folks, I agree wuth you that we are a family, or at least a community, especially since we don't get to pick and choose who all belongs. In fact probably most of the junk that flares up in VP is because of personal problems. It's a lot safer to rant and rave online than to rant and rave in real life maybe.

I sometimes think vpf is too messed up to survive, but just like in real life, people get over snits and tantrums. And while it might seem nice if we always got along together, it would sure get boring as all get out. And while AJ could and should be more involved, we have managed to survive without him around, and so the soap opera called the VP Community goes merrily on it's way, stumbling almost blindly as it looks for the next flame-fest to get its colective shorts in a bind over. And I'm as bad as anyone, I get suckered in every time some stuff hits the fan. At least this time I got sick and tired of hearing the same old stink, and decided to get busy making more tables, both recreations and originals. Maybe VP goofiness is what spurs on creativity.

Hey, I figure it could always be worse. What if we were all twins, just think how distracting and frustrating two of me, or shiva, or heaven forbid, Leon or the Dude would be. Now two Bob's or two StevOz's might have some entertainment value, but two Mitchell's would give me a major headache.

Do I need to be a murderer to know it's wrong to kill, Leo? Beating children being wrong when there's plenty of non-violent ways to discipline them should be a no-brainer. Unfortunately, most people have no brains. And when you have younger brohters and sisters that are as much as 18 years younger than you, amazingly you can get some experience helping to raise children even if you weren't the seeder. I'm sure that doesn't count with you, though since you know it all.

I'm in the same position as you, PD. I'm single with no children, but I am the oldest of 12 children, from 2 sets of famillys, and I did a fair amount of "raising" the youngest ones. In fact , I was honored with a real "fatherhood" moment.

I was the one to take the training wheels off my youngest sisters bike, and hold her up as I ran behind her, and pulled the classic father trick of letting her go (and not telling her) till she was halfway down the street.

She was so thirlled to be riding herself, and I could not have been any prouder than if she was my daughter. I was smiling ear to ear, and crying just a bit. Its a memory I will cherish forever, even if I never have any children of my own.

Very nice memory Kurt. And I've never been married either, and would never give pointers to my married friends about their children or grandkids, unless my advice or opinion is asked. But I was a volunteer Big Brother, and a board member for twenty years, so I don't think you have to actally have children to be able to have some insights into the proper way to deal with them.

Uninvited opinions seldom will be seriously considered, but I've often been asked my opinion and observations many times, since I've known all my friend's now adult children from their birth. I think anyone who ignores any sort of experience is foolhardy.
