WIP Recreation Video Games BAM FP Space Cadet 3D v3.0

Future Pinball
There is no need to get too harsh. Paolo is trying. I don't think Paolo understands what collaborate means as he still has some difficulty with the English language.

Paolo,

Collaborate means you work together on the table some of like what you and GF used to do
I read it as if someone could help him fix the ramps and maybe make suggestions
George's answer was on another context!
Regarding what you read above, I was actually explaining that I replaced the Fp ramp with a 3D ramp model, and I was explaining that coordinating the textures on a 3D ramp model with milkshape is torture. That's why I created what you see in the video, the FP ramp with texture is fake, the 3D ramp is real, and it's the one that really works, except that it's invisible and is more fluid than FP, in the sense that the ball goes up the ramp much better .
What you read on page 22, concerns that context, which he(George) talks about in his answer above.

In truth I get "fired up easy" if I had to eat a nice plate of oysters!!

Ok,I spent a few hours updating SC3D, I added some graphics, added my customized GR with gif inserted, and added the sides and front inside the table always in gif.
This is the version with my "optimal physics", now I have to finalize the version with fizx ( time allow) and then I publish them in honor of Gianfranco, who created this masterpiece for Fp.

Ok, let's see if I can get back to doing something on it, I remember it was almost ready.

JpSalas, he was very kind to let me use the voice sounds, and I'm inserting them all, here's an example.

Hello, IDK if it's the right thread but anyway... I'm been trying to run the Space Cadet 3D on FP, but it crashes just before starting. I have downloaded every version I found around, all of them from FranzLeo, there is a 1.0, a 2.0 and also a 3.0. Still no luck. I don't have many tables, but that's the only one crashing like this. I can open the table in the editor, when I try to start the game, it appears to load normally, the loading bar goes almost full, then I hear the background tune playing for like half second, and then crash. The BAM log reports some random access violation. Thanks for any help.

Are you using an AMD processor or have it installed in a cabinet?

Thanks for replying. No, I have an Intel processor on a regular laptop. And actually there is another table which has exactly that same behavior, it's another FranzLeo's table, SuperAndroid 2.0. On the other hand, CyborGirl runs perfectly. It looks like the tables are failing to load some resource, just a feeling though.

If your laptop has an integrated GPU built into the CPU chip, it may not always have enough resources to play some tables. I tried playing this table on my PC and had no problem. My PC has an Intel CPU with a dedicated Nvidea GPU.

You might try performing Steps 6, 9, and 12 of my guide linked below and it might help:

Could be. It's actually an integrated Iris Xe. However, some way heavier tables such as Star Wars DSA or Indiana Jones run like charm. Thus I'm been assuming that older or simpler tables should run as well. Maybe that isn't the case. I suppose that there's no way to figure out what's wrong. I even tried to delete the suole script, and to remove random stuff from the table. No change. Oh well. I'll play something else. There is a VPX version of Space Cadet, and it works on my PC, but I prefer FP so much... Thanks for your help anyway, and thanks for your great work on the tables ;)

It is interesting you like FP over VP. Most folks seem to like VP better and many used every opportunity to tell the world how much better it is.

I still think you should try performing Steps 6, 9, and 12 of my guide linked in my previous message.

@Ulukeke

I think I found the specific cause of your problem. I looked in the script of Space Cadet and found many occurrences of "evaluate" and "eval" commands. You need to add an exclusion for Future Pinball on the real time protection of Microsoft Defender Antivirus. The issue usually causes stuttering but it can cause a crash. I describe the issue pretty clearly in the write up. I added this exclusion back in 2022 and have not been infected with any viruses because of it and forgot about it until just a few minutes ago. It is probably the reason I didn't have any problems playing the table earlier.

I discussed this in my guide that I previously linked but I also discussed many other things that you can try so this will save you some time.

I was just reading your guide and tinkering with the video settings. I was also preparing myself mentally to fiddle with the Windows Defender settings, which I find a tedious task at best. But then... "Model Quality always needs to be set to High". Mine was set to Medium. Culprit found. Super Android works too. Cheers! Thanks again for your help, George! I'll read the whole FP guide, I promise :)

Hello again. I'm been checking the "George's List". I saw a post about Space Cadet, and I absolutely agree on the music: it should be on at start by default, because so it was on the Windows game. I have made that modification, and I'd suggest another one: the lanes on top and left turn off when hit while they're on. Beside being annoying, I got a feeling that it wasn't their original behavior. I was unsure so I've checked the original game, it is playable online. Thus I have modified the script to have the lanes turned on when they're off, an not vice-versa. Just a suggestion, for the possible new release by Wild. On the other hand, I'd keep 3 balls per game, again for sake of consistency with the original Windows table.
By the way I realize that the posts on the George's List are quite old, and the whole subject could be just out of date, but I discovered FP only a few weeks ago. :ghost:

Hello, IDK
Hi.....sorry but what is IDK?

suole?????? you speak Italian too?

So....the version 3D or 3.0, these are my versions, probably you got the 3.0 on Pinsim, and the 3D here on Pn a few years ago that I removed (don't ask me why), that said, I don't know why the table crashes, probably some setting... this is mine for example
Catturaxx.JPG
Or probably some script code like "Eval/Execute" that create some incompatibility with your operating system...maybe with Windows Defender or another ant-vir?, or like me you have a low-end PC, with a low-end video card (I can't run very complex tables without having problems) or worse integrated, so you have to try to understand, it seems to me that my friend George suggested you some help.

I saw a post about Space Cadet, and I absolutely agree on the music: it should be on at start by default, because so it was on the Windows game.
Not very clear this phrase.... which post you saw?I don't understand the relationship between music, and windows game that has no music....what? start by default?, but what are you talking about?

I have made that modification, and I'd suggest another one: the lanes on top and left turn off when hit while they're on. Beside being annoying, I got a feeling that it wasn't their original behavior. I was unsure so I've checked the original game, it is playable online. Thus I have modified the script to have the lanes turned on when they're off, an not vice-versa. Just a suggestion, for the possible new release by Wild. On the other hand, I'd keep 3 balls per game, again for sake of consistency with the original Windows table.

Ok....I want to be clear, in the versions you have at home, you are free to do what you want, but if you are making changes in my 3.0 or 3D versions with the aim of publishing them here in PN or on another site, know that you do not have my permission to do so, I can accept some of your suggestions in order to improve, but only this. So....I urge you to respect my wishes regarding my tables and my versions, thank you.

So....I don't understand exactly which lanes you're talking about, but know that Gianfranco (Franzleo) my friend who died, it seems strange to me that he didn't evaluate these things you're referring to, I don't understand what's annoying for you in these lanes.....which exactly are these lanes that need to be turned on instead of off? I also played a lot on the Windows version, but a doubt arises: are we talking about the same version of Windows?
For 3 or 5 balls, I always put the choice at the beginning of the script, except for some tables that I consider unnecessary, BUT it's not a problem.

Anyway I have to check these lanes in due time, for now I'm concentrating on another table, but my SC3D ver 3.0, sooner or later I'll finish it, I have to finish adding the vocal sounds.

PS; Wild It's me,Paolo.......and I hope my english is clear for you, if not let me know what is not clear.

Greetings and thanks|

IDK = I don't know

He determined that the cause of the crashing is the Model Quality option on the Video Rendering screen in the FP editor was set to Medium instead of High. It wasn't the occurrences of "evaluate" and "eval" in the script as I had thought.

consistency with the original Windows table
Ops....sorry but I forgot to tell you, I don't know which version of SC for windows you played, but both Franzelo and I used the Maxis version in the Full Tilt package, look at the photos the top lane is off, and it lights up when you hit the ball, if you turn them on all three change the color of the bumpers, obviously these three lanes are also for the other missions.
sc1.JPGsc2.JPG
Now...regarding the left lane I assume the fuel lane, the "trigger-buttons" flash, and stay on, when the ball passes on it, the lane of the solitary bumper in the top left is more complicated to explain, based on the missions they do their job, if you do the whole lane that is: you start from the base of the ramp up to the bumper turn there the lights do their job based on the missions, so they turn on and off as it should be, based on the version that Gianfranco and I have done.

So....to consider that in my new version, I added the 3-ball multiball, which I presume is not in the one you played, and in this one of maxis but it is always versions that we are talking about, because for example in this one of maxis there is the multiball layout see the photo with the three blue lights, but it does not activate, this is the reason that GF did not insert it.... but for example in that of VPX of the master JP Salas, he inserted it, so I also
sc3.JPG

So once again you probably played an old version of SC on windows, not comparable to this one I'm working on, stay relax!
