It's been a month since I began this thread, and I thought that since I noticed that Gottlieb has just registered here, now might be a good time to give my impressions of VPU after that month. Much of what I first posted was knee-jerk reaction stuff, based on posts by Gottlieb at vpf, and as such, some of my assumptions have not come to pass. Gottlieb had stated that he wanted VPU to be a place where pinball was discussed, and other BS was left at the door. From what I have seen of their forums, that's pretty much the case. As with any new forum, they had a few rough moments, but these were ironed out, and that is that.
I post release annoucements for tables by Patrick and me, and a few other PN authors at VPU, and provide links to the download pages where the tables can be found. And since these are not direct links to the tables, VPU is welcome to use them if they choose to do so.
I would hope that if and when Gottlieb posts here, he'll be treated just like everyone else. In other words, respond to what he posts here and not to any past real or imagined issues. We all like to mix it up at times, and that's no problem, but let's wait and see what he has to say before we weigh in on him, if the need arises.
Since I don't visit chat rooms, mainly because my arthritis won't allow that much typing, I have no idea what is discussed there. But it seems to me that if you visit their chat room and have issues, why not settle them there. We've had some great discussions and debates about pinball, and I'm sure that will continue. We've also had any number of all-out arguments, and I know we'll have more. But I see no reason to target Gottlieb, or anyone for that matter, unless they fire the first salvo.
I'm sure Gottleb doesn't need or want me to run interference for him, and I won't. All I'm saying that everyone's welcome here, so don't make the same mistake I did by overreacting. Give the sucker

the same break you'd give anyone else.
