i made many phone calls and found AJ's last real estate agent and found his next (vaguely) probable address.

there is nothing more i could do without hiring a private investigator or getting a course in detective work.
and nobody here offered to help me.

so read the threads if you want to and don't you dare talk smack to anyone here.
because you were invisible when it mattered.

wow why can't we all just get along? While I lament the fact that his site is down (for good probably), I also did not know that anyone DID bother to actually try to locate him. i know he lives on the west coast, about 3000 miles from me, and I was unemployed until last week, so lacked the funds to try to find him, but I am glad that someone(s) did try to get in touch with him. and most of us do care about him and his site and his apparent silence concerning it. He may actually have a legal reason why he can't talk to any of us about it, but no matter, vpforums.org is alive and well so let bygones be bygones, sure it's a sad thing and much info was lost when we lost vpf.com, but we bounced back and with so many of us now here and at vpf.org, pinball will continue to thrive! and people are trying to locate all the missing stuff and post it either here or vpf.org so fret not, hopefully most of the missing info will come back in due time

WTF ok the thread is talking about vp forum gone but what i dont understand is that i was on vp forum yesterday for ages, it was the first thing to come up in google when i searched vp forum now today only a a few hours later its gone again what the hell is going on, im only just getting back into the pinball and the crap thing is before i didnt have to search for roms and tables as my friend had all of them and passed it on to me....

VPForums.com is gone, VPForums.org (the site you were on) came into existence shortly after the demise of the original site and is in no way related to it. The fact that you've managed to confuse the two proves exactly why the new site's name bothers some people.

With the exception of the uncalled-for profanity, Nic's post is dead accurate Jive. He's worked harder than most people (if not all people) to figure out what happened to AJ. If you can't see that, re-read the thread until you can, and then apologize to him.

Anyway, good to know chances are he's still alive. I sure wouldn't want to be moving and looking for a new job in this economy. Also waiting for a house to sell and the assets split due to a divorce, not fun.

The Supervisor at the Post Office in Carmichael, Ca. claims that AJ is still receiving his mail at his listed Carmichael address, though that may just be his wife/ex.

it's all very well to point that out now, but whichever office i found associated with the ad was definitely not the lawrence realty in question.
whichever one it was, directed me to a different office run by a different company. that happened a few times.

eventually i found the right office and the right agent, but like i said, it took a number of phone calls. if mister charmack's name was in front of me the whole time then all i can say is that i'm indeed an idiot. :)

After so long I think we can be sure there's no hope of the site ever returning. Only hope would be if there's a pile of dead drives somewhere waiting for insurance money so they can be sent out to a recovery firm...

But it would be nice to know what happened with AJ. So odd for someone in the computer business to disappear off the Internet for so long.

Hope the hypothetical scenario above is not the case, or some other tragedy. But then if it wasn't something tragic that means he just quit without bothering to tell anyone....

I see 4dealhosting.com no longer has a server assigned (and the domain expires end of this month), but ribboncheck.com still has a server with one page with a number 12 on it.
