About my recent comments at VPF

You see it's that smug attitude of what you say is BS that people like you and some of those on that list that CAUSED all those problems at places like VPF. I wouldn't expect you to see that, though. And I don't recall having any major problems with pincode. And Catlyst was nothing BUT a troublemaker. It's all he was there for.

You say "smug".
I say confident.
You are ALL doing EXACTLY the same thing to me as you are berating me for doing to Phoenixx.
You are rubbishing my opinion.
I have NEVER told Phoenixx or anyone else they CAN'T have an opinion.
You can rubbish my opinion all you want BUT, DON'T get on my case because I do it to whoever.
Your arguments reek of hypocrisy.

Not nice John.
What about the help I provide my fellow table makers with??
The mass of flipperless playfields I dug up and sent to you???
Some I even straightened so you wouldn't have to???
MarcBouchard has a new release Casanova. Where do you think he got the nice straightened playfield from?????
That's right me.
Stevoz once posted a request for Super Soccer to be done and dispite my NOT agreeing with most of his posts I STILL made the table. It was because of that request I made the table. How's that for "narrow minded"?
Or are you coveniently forgetting those things for the purpose of winning a "debate"???

Am I the only one that thinks this "conversation" is stupid, pointless and a waste of time? I'm not so desparate for conversation that I have to pick fights over stupid things like Leo here. I've got better things to do. Hey, you win, Leo. Not sure what, but whatever. See ya.

leo, ignore these Americans,
Come up the road to my place and have a game of pinball
Sure, only one machine is working 100%
But hey, any pinball is better than none

Your super soccer, (great by the way) did you research of a real machine or from photo's at IPDB?

I do like Super Soccer and thanks Leo, though I did add some oil to those spinners, what's with those settings, I know it's an older EM though that don't mean the spinners are rusty. :)

Always thought it a great machine, though having played soccer, rather then Aussie rules in my youth may have made me bias and I just love those backglass toys. ;)

btw the flippers and lower inlane rails should also be slightly lower, flippers swing to high and a few other tweaks, maybe you need another table tester. :)

Subtle things though it does make all the difference when dealing with the most important gameplay features.

Na it's cool mate. I don't mind a "spirited" debate.
No anger or "bad" feelings here. In fact I feel quite invigorated.

Up the road??? Where you at???

Most of the rules for Super Soccer I knew myself from the many times I have played it in the past and I believe it was Stevoz who helped fill in some blanks. Not sure now.

That's cool by me BUT, just remember it was you who chose to break our "agreement" not me. None of my initial comments were directed at you at all. YOU chose to throw your 2 cents in and I threw a buck fifty back at ya.
Adios muchachos.

What your saying is that the flippers are positioned too high??
The flipper swing angles should be less?
and the spinner should spin more freely?
Interesting. I will try your suggestions and send it to you if that is ok?

I used to play soccer myself between the ages of 15 and 25. I was a goalkeeper. I also played Aussie rules but, not as long. I played soccer better. It's funny that as I have about 5 generations of Aussie born on both sides of the family.

If I wanted to, I could take things out of context too, in order to make others appear petty. I choose not to, since my only goal is to point out how narrow minded your Internet persona is. So below is the entire post from which you extracted one sentence to build yourself up and pat yourself on the back.

It's funny how you regard discussion as "resuming hostilities" Mr. Wanker. Your biggest problem is like John points out, you seem to have a hard time accepting other people's opinions on matters you disagree with. You apparently feel the need to step in and tell people it's none of their business where their money went or to shut up when they complain about the message board being down. I ask YOU how is THAT constructive? I see it as no more constructive than the original complaints. It adds nothing and raises the "ire" levels (as you put it) of other people. So what have you accomplished other than amusing yourself?

I can't see anywhere in the above or any other posts where I've used the words "shut up".
Where do you get this stuff?

As for "hostilities" Your reputation precedes you:
you & Nicky
you & Jive
you & Catalyst
you & cowboy
you & apocalypse
you & cobracure
You & me
you & Kid c
etc. etc. etc.
The list is more than I can remember.

In my opinion, at least five of those on your list are hostile in their own rights, and even to some degree they bait people, trying to stir things up. Other than you, none of them post here much at all, or not at all, because while they can dish it out they can't take it as well as they give it. At least I'll give you credit for being willing to stand and debate. Other than your fine tables, that's about all I can give you cedit for.

John

So as you can see, I was paying you a compliment for a least not cutting and running when the debate heated up. As for those images you sent me, am I supposed to thank you for them in my signature? As for you straightening some of them, since you never told me that, how would I have known, but hey, Thanks For Straightening Those Images Leo! Now, if you feel I haven't given you enough pats on the back for those images, just tell me and I'll delete them from my HD. And as for those other self service revelations, since I wasn't directly involved with most of them, how would I know about them.

Now, if I followed your lead, I'd list everything I've contributed to the VP Community, both things that are common knowledge and those which aren't. But since that would have no bearing on this discussion, I won't bore you with it.

John

Well John I wouldn't have even mentioned those pics if you hadn't made that "that's about all I can give you cedit for"
crack.
Do with the pics as you please. I am NOT as you Americans put it an "indian giver" (is that correct??)
Also if you wanted more I would send more if I found any more.
I don't hate you John BUT, if I didn't just happen to browse this forum a few day ago during a moment of boredom I wouldn't have
known about your comments about me. In my eyes (because I USED to rarely come here) that's talking behind my back.
At least when I had something to say about Pheonixx I had the "balls" to say it somewhere where he would read it and not somewhere
where he MIGHT by CHANCE come across it SOMEDAY.

Yes, Indian Giver is the correct term. And one reason the comments were amde here is because this is the site that Jon and I run. Also if they had been posted at VPF, good old lily white VPF, they would have been deleted or edited out, which is their right.

Here, as long as you don't post or link to Porn Sites, most anything goes, since we're all adults, and censorship is something that both Jon and I are totally against. And since you are a member here, I had no way of knowing how often you stop by. At least now you might visit more often, and for that, we all benefit, if only through civil disagreement and meaningful debate. We'll probably never change one another's opinions and ideas, but it's always good to have these kinds of discussions, if for no other reason than stress relief.

Personally you seem like a nice enough fellow, and yes you are helpful to others when possible, and do share and find images, but none of that changes the fact that it seems that on a number of occasions you have berated me for voicing displeasure in how AJ runs VPF. Especially irksome was when I posted a series of questions to AJ after AJ had told me to either ask the questions or shut up. So yes, I posted some direct questions, and to this day, AJ has never answered those questions, which he told me to ask.

So, if nothing else, this should demonstrate that Pinball Nirvana and VPF are world's apart in attitude. Here, one of the fellows running the site is actively involved day in and day out, and even if you don't agree with me, at least you can discuss it with me. VPF on the other hand, could be run by a auto-responding computer for all the input and involvement we get from AJ. And our debates and discussions would never be allowed at VPF, since they would be deemed too argumentative. What VPF sees as argumentative I see and enlightening and worthwhile, and yes, even entertaining to a degree.

So, just because your opinions don't appear to be shared by many people here, I hope you'll continue to visit and join in our discussions, even if they aren't focused on you or VPF. No matter what we feel about each other, not just you and I but all of us, we still have the common thread of pinball that binds us together, and that alone means that you'll always be more than welcome here.

Now go soak your head, maybe it'll bring you to your senses. :p

If you guys are finally done pissin' and moanin'... I guess we can get back to pinball.

Hey Leon, is there any chance that someday I can mod one of your tables into an original? :flower:

Hey, I haven't been pissing and moaning, simply trying to straighten our Aussie friend out. And I'd say what he was doing was pontificating. And while we're probably not done, taking a break for pinball isn't a bad idea.

I have a hopefully minor problem with the Trade Stimulator I've been working on. It's a 1 ball game, and the ball drops from a kicker named DropKicker1 at the top of the playfield. There is no score to keep, simply the ball drops and you either win or lose, and other things happen rather than a score being displayed.

Anyway, the game worked before I asked for help and didn't explain the game completely, and TomB gave me a Randomized code, since at the time I wanted to use 3 kickers, and have the 1 ball drop at random from one and only one of the DropKickers. I used TomB's code, which he wrote thinking I needed more that one ball to be dropped, so he used a timer. It worked, but 1 ball was dropped, via the timer, from each of the 3 DropKickers.

Thinking I could solve the problem by using just one Dropkicker, I ended up with 3 balls dropping from the 1 DropKicker. To make my long story a bit shorter, I think to use logic and alter, and then delete, TomB's code. So as it stands, the table starts, the rules window can be displayed, but when I press the key P key to drop the ball, nothing happens. Here is the beginning code for my table, and I would forever be in the debt of anyone who can show me the error of my ways and make the ball drop.

Sub Table1_KeyDown(ByVal keycode)

If keycode = 25 Then
DropKicker1.CreateBall
DropKicker1.kick 180,0
PlaySound "drop"
end if
end sub

Thanks folks, and yes, I'm available if anyone needs coding help :p Clear as mud, huh?

John

Hey wait a minute, isn't SantaDude/Pac supposed to do the giving? A bottle of Lambrusco who be nice.

John

M.U.L.E? Are you referring to that old Electronic Arts C64 game?

John, just insert this line instead of your code somewhere after "Sub Table1_KeyDown(ByVal keycode)" and before the "End Sub" and it will drop a ball when you push the "P" key

If Keycode=25 Then DropKicker1.CreateBall :DropKicker1.kick 180,0 :playSound "drop":end if

It might be better to send it to a sub, but either one works. Once I get the code to work, I don't change it to make it pretty.

If Keycode=25 Then DropBall

Sub DropBall
DropKicker1.CreateBall
DropKicker1.kick 180,0
PlaySound "drop"
End Sub

Thanks Bob, that fixed the problem. I even have a pretty good idea what I did wrong, and maybe I'll remember not to do the same dumb thing next time. It seems appropriate that you helped me, since the theme of the table is clowns, two of them in fact. Now if I can resist the urge to test it to death, and if nothing else is wrong, it should be out soon.

John

OK, now I have one last problem, which I've tried a few ideas on, and I haven't stumbled across the right code. Very simply I want the ball to remain in the kicker for about a second and then be destroyed. So what do I need to add to my sub routine to make it work, please and thank you. And yes, even I know it needs some sort of timer line added, I just can't figure the right one.

Sub Kicker1_Hit()
PlaySound "winner"
Kicker1.DestroyBall
End Sub

John . . . If I were wealthy, I'd hire someonme to code all my work.

Click on Kicker1 on your table and under it's options at the bottom, change the value of Timer Interval to 1000 (1000 is 1 second) then add this code :) You may copy and paste from any of my tables... I used 333 in my DoublePooshEmUp table.

Sub Kicker1_Hit
PlaySound "winner"
Kicker1.TimerEnabled=True
End Sub
Sub Kicker1_Timer
Kicker1.TimerEnabled=0
Kicker1.DestroyBall

End Sub

Once again, thanks loads. I was fairly close, just didn't have the =ture part, and didn't have it split into two seperate parts.

John

Yeah, the old Electronics Arts game. John mentioned a "trade simulator" and MULE is the first thing that always springs to mind with me. I loved MULE. I also had an Amiga one called "Traders" that was pretty good (fighting robots and slug trading.... ;) Games like Galactic Battlegrounds remind me the most of MULE now (only real time and doing all kinds of real time fighting as well).

I have NO restrictions on my releases.
Not even to the likes of you Bob
Mod away to your hearts content.

Thanks Leon, You do know I mean to release it after I change the graphics and gameplay and sounds and end up with a new table with a new name, but I use most of your walls and script. I'm weak at creating layouts and scripts, but I really like playing around with graphics and making original tables.
