I wonder if I change it to a jpeg, which should make the file size way smaller, would it load the 4800x800 faster?I wonder if that web format could work, it compresses these kind of images into tiny sizes.

Really think it could make it worse, as .jpg does tend to degrade images with its older compression algorithms. At 2560x1440 here it looks just as sharp at 2400, so we maybe at the end of the rainbow?
