So... what do we do here, exactly?

Do we need to catch the live show, or is there a huge archive, like with Feldman ?
Glad some folks are getting a guffaw out of it!

The show from 9-10pm Eastern on Thursdays is all archived. You can listen live at:

Theme for tonight's show is "stupid" so that'll be good and dumb :trippy:

My big show is from 10-midnite Thursdays (EST), but ya gotta catch it live:

Theme for tonight's show is "laugh" so that's gonna be plenty stupid too!

@Free Bally!,
Great... will check it out a bit later!

Oy man, your DJ'ing taste reminds me of an old buddy from Philly named Marvin Solar.
He was a total Bob Dobbs & Residents enthusiast who did a wacky, hilarious weekly show on West Philly radio. A big, strong 6'2" dude, but gentle as a lamb, with a heart of gold.

Sadly, he passed young (early 30's I think) due to an undetected heart defect.
Right around two decades ago, in fact.

Btw, one little story about Marvin--
For a few Halloweens, he liked to wear a big bunny suit and hop up & down on a mini-trampoline on his front porch, giggling like a maniac.

So for wandering trick-or-treaters, it was definitely a wild, unexpected sight there, but I haven't told you the last detail-- no, on top of all that, he liked to wield a live, running chainsaw. (again, dressed in his bunny suit.)

(yes, of course it had a safety chain, no teeth, but still, lol)

Now from what I'm told, the majority of trick-or-treaters backed off in sheer terror at that point, but nevertheless a small few saw the absurd humor of the situation and timidly ventured up the porch stairs, upon which Marvin would shut the chainsaw off, pull off his bunny-headpiece, and have a lowkey, pleasant conversation with such folks, concluding by giving them a massive candy payout for their trouble. :D

We lost a lot of great musicians in 2023!
RIP, Gary Wright, just found out via NBC's national news in memoriam segment that he had died.
Ooh, I liked Dreamweaver. Nice song!
Thanks, Gary. <3

Oy Jon-- I might have posted this before, but there was a Spooky Tooth song I discovered a couple years ago that I thought was just was one of the finest, most unique 60's rockers I've ever heard, featuring Gary Wright on organ if I understand correctly.

Gary has a pageboy haircut, beard & mustachio there, if that's him.
Whadya think? Could that really be him..?

Btw, it kinda blows my mind how this song isn't better-known in general.
To me it absolutely slams, altho yes I was 3yo at the time. 😅

have to watch the monterey one soon as I have time. The Janice Jopplin performance was amazing and well worth watching.

I've been partaking of Janis on YT here and there when I've got a moment (well, more like energy & concentration, hah).

I find the performances as amazing as ever. Spine-tingling, really.
What a force of nature she was, but also understatedly charming as hell in her interviews... a lot of them with Dick Cavett of all people.

@Free Bally!
Great shows!
That Stupid Blues song from first show was great!
The guitar player sounded just as great as Steve Vai!
Loved the next song Stupid Reggae! Sounded spacey. Alot of the songs sounded like this!
Great selection of music!
How do you find all of these great unique songs?
Can't wait to hear your next show!
Carry on sir. :salut:

*doof*
I still haven't started on F B's show yet. :s
After I recommended "Xmas in Frisco" above, I decided to check it out again to see if there was some new shizzle. Safe to conclude-- there's a bunch of new shizzle. oO

So I'm re-hooked for now.
Will move on, later!

Btw, from out of the heckin' blue, I somehow remembered one of my favorite non-English songs of all time. It's by a super-popular Italian singer from back in the day, Adriano Celentano.

As Jon himself might say-- you'll earn a gold star if you figure out what the biggest, super-funniest idea is about this song:

I need to post a weekly reminder here, so others won't miss his show!
A nice side effect of doing this, is that it will also remind me to tune into the show on time!
:rockband:

Sorry for my language, but it's not going to go good if an American doesn't figure this one out. Let's solve it now and talk about it later, right?

Today I listened to Yes - Yes, Japan 2009 remastered
Beautiful.

Just a reminder that Jons brothers Radio show starts at 9PM Eastern.
Find more info here in his post...

You ever think to yourself that you were born in the wrong decade?
I love classic music that was made before my time!
Great mix of "B-Side" music @Free Bally!
Love soul music.
If you want to hear some other great soul music, check out Mississippi Mass Choir.

Haha, every single day. Altho in my case it's probably more like a question of century, or even millennia... or even the brief age of civilisation (~10Kyrs) vs. the entirety of modern human existence (about ~300Kyrs). :p

Unfortunately-- my dumbass self would probably have dropped the torch in that awesome movie you once shared (what was that again?), then everyone would be having roasted or raw Nicolas the next day. :o

Love soul music.

TBC, I would most certainly say that link's full of "modern gospel."
A genre of soul, one might say.

Now me? As something of a "Natural Law" / "Buddhist" / "Robert Sapolsky" / "Joseph Campbell" kind of philosopher-dumbass, some of my friends have been low-key shocked that I love gospel.

Like, what?! Gospel is awesome! Gospel rocks!!
Oh yeah yeah, just stand there in your whitey-tighties and tell me that such music isn't exciting! And beautifully kind-hearted and inclusive as all hell, is it not..?

At the same time, I feel like part of the beauty of gospel is because we've *already known* it for ~300Kyrs of human history, or maybe less, according to our musical inclinations.

Eh, let's just get back to some universally-nice music, eh?

Oh rabbits, I forget if I shared the next one before, but FWIW I've built up a pleasing library of uniquely-unique Xmas / winter tunes. Not sure who here has heard the next one before, but...
