I listened to ~20 of Billy Stewart's songs just now and am impressed. I think I've heard some of those before, but didn't know who he was at the time.

i do listen to the radio stations that play the new stuff so i can stay current.
take a few days or all week to listen to some more of the links.
try different key word searches....try killer oldies....best low rider oldies.....art laboe killer oldies.....

Also, I need to go back and listen to stuff I'd missed from maybe a month or two ago.

I listen to new music too, altho it's mainly "Indie Pop" and "Trip-Hop" / "Chillout" / etc.

There's always more to learn about, tho. Youtube for example has some reconstructions of ancient music, like Babylonian, Roman and Egyptian. To me, that's 'new music' too. :-)

Nah, it's cool. You gave me various different names, like Billy Stewart's, and I don't half-arse it over here.

I want to know when my next 'musical love affair' is going to be, so I always try to give new musicians a good strong listen. It's a problem on my end, no matter. :D

when you get around to it listen to low rider oldies vol 1-12, east side storyoldies and all the links on the page.
here:
leave the screen on and watch the slide show videos of the low riders as the music plays on some of the links.
the low riders dudes customize those old rides really super nice.
i had a buddy way back that had a 76 Monte Carlo low rider.
its was ok.
he would take the chrome spoke wheels of the car and spend i dunno how many hours on the weekend polishing the rims and the spokes
with a toothbrush to a sparkle.

after 45yrs are they still around?

I remember that one well because I was a big baseball fan as a kid, and that song was adopted as the unofficial anthem of the Pittsburgh Pirates, champions for 1979.

IIRC the team was led by Willie Stargell, who made a habit of adding stars to players' caps when they did something noteworthy, like a clutch play or big hit.

Something about the music and the team camaraderie made me think that this would be a new baseball dynasty, but it was not to be. That was actually the aging Stargell's last good year, and MLB cracked down on the dress code violations. In fact it was my hometown team that won the series, next year in 1980. AFAIK the Pirates have never made it back to the World Series.

the title "nugget" brought back some more memories with Ted Nugent
tracks 1, 7 and one of my oldie faves #12 Hey Baby were probably his biggest hits in the mid to late 70s.

no computers, minimum wage was $2.65hr in my region.
if you were making $7.50hr-$10hr you were doin' good.
you could maybe qualify to buy a small house in my area at that time.
i almost forgot a gallon of regular leaded 92octane was around 65cents.
unleaded gas came around in about 83.
