There's no way a thread like this could exist without a salute to the Pinball Nirvana Lifetime Achievement Award winner Shockman! Not only was he the only person who was ever banned here during my 10-year stay (not counting all the members Pacdude banned in his month as moderator), he managed to do it more than once! oh gear dog, i had COMPLETELY forgotten about that... lifeform... i suppose one might so describe.

holy shizbiz, but i've never seen a person so self-congratulatory and smug about being able to talk in a sort of handicapped, wannabe-leet speak. it really was rather breathtaking.

in the end, i sincerely hope it was some poor soul who was trying to do... something productive?

I was impressed with them all. I had not seen #10. How apropos. I found "EMCADE" most memorable and wished it was a real place. Was #5 about the casino ? Thanks Dave for the entertainment and please add some 'Manley' tags to those posts while there is time...Keith

they were all pretty gonzo. i guess i'll go with the lesbian wedding. maybe you can move them to a new venue and find a bigger audience. :)

This thread wouldn't be complete without the Constant Asshole Lifetime Achievement award. Not the person that just shows up to be an asshole in one thread and disappears. Or the person who alway seemed normal until they snap (use Steve's search trick to look up member "rpbizzle"). No, this award would go to the person who's pretty much asshole from beginning to end. Sometimes it's just less than usual. And that's an award I humbly accept, whether I want to or not. I still believe John was wrong in his role of moderator to ask that we put a fellow member on "ignore", but I'd say I handled it pretty poorly. What an asshole.

I could think of worse gods than Shocky. Like Yahweh. That whole "you shall not have any other gods before me" crap? That's some stalker-ex-boyfriend behavior. I bet Shocky wouldn't mind if I worshipped other gods. Plus, Shocky gave me a lot of pretend money. All those years I spent worshipping the Judeo-Christian god and I never even got change for a dollar out of him!

PS: i think you're jealous because I won the prize! Don't worry, Nic... there's always the next ten years over at Itchy's and, hey, I may really mellow out!

Folks like Neptuneholographics are the ones that really drive up the thread views. Anytime a carnival is missing a side-show attraction and they end up posting on forums, people can't get enough of them. After all, we're human and we can't help the urge to watch the geek bite the head off a chicken. But that also means that the good, decent people sometimes get lost in the shuffle. One of those good, decent people just happens to be our fearless site owner JPH. Eight years later and I still remember this moving post. All I ask is that you ignore the chicken-head-biting geek that shows up to ruin it all later in the thread. You're a good man, JPH... and that is a rare bird indeed on the internet.

And, as an "intermediate person on the scene" as well (read "Well, I know how to play pinball... sort of...!"), if I'm needed to spend a fraction of the many, maaannny hours I've spent here moving some files around to help it happen... sign me up. This is where I write something I think is just hilarious about how I'd abuse my moderator power. Rereading it, I can see how it could definitely be taken the wrong way, therefore making it much less "hilarious" and much more "pointless and stupid". And if I'm given the moderator powers to do that, I will also use them to ban you, Nic... once a day, at a time and for a length that I, alone, will determine. Could be for five minutes at 1AM on one day, could be from that 9 to 5 Dolly Parton's so fond of on another. So you're gonna have to be on your toes. HAHA! Good one, Bill! You're an idiot

I think this thread more than any other shows what’s lacking in today’s Visual Pinball world… we got rid of all the weirdos. And it’s not that I miss the weirdos for the sake of the weird. It was everything they brought with them. Pacdude was one of the best table designers of the VP8 era. I haven’t seen anyone take the time and effort to design a VP installer since the one Phoenixxx created. Shocky may have only made one single table in all his years on the scene, but I’ll be damned if he didn’t make the best Ms. PacMan pinball table out there! I guess the Wild West can’t last forever. It takes a VPF.org to come in, wipe out the Indians and whip up a little industry and capitalism to turn what was once a very singular hobby into a business. And, hey… more power to them, that’s the American Dream in action. But that doesn’t mean I don’t miss those thrilling days of yesteryear. In fact, that quote from Once Upon a Time In the West that I posted in sleepy’s movie thread would fit perfectly:
